Your first session - explained
You don't need to prepare, believe in anything or know what to do.
You just arrive and rest.
Before you arrive

Most people feel unsure before their first session. You won't be expected to talk about anything personal and nothing unusual will happen.
You simply come in, we have a short gentle chat and you can ask any questions.

What actually happens

You lie fully clothed on a treatment bed, covered with a blanket.
I place my hands in different positions on or just above the body while you rest quietly listening to the relaxing music.
There is no massage and nothing is done to you.
You don't have to concentrate, breathe a certain way or clear your mind.

What your body is doing

Reiki isn't about fixing you, it supports the nervous system to move out of constant alert mode and into a state where the body can settle and regulate.
Many people realise they haven't relaxed properly in a very long time.

What people feel

Experiences vary but people commonly notice:

-
warmth or heaviness
-
their breathing slows down
-
their thoughts become quieter
-
emotional release
-
or they simply fall asleep

There is no right or wrong wat to experience Reiki.

After the session

Most people feel calm, lighter or mentally clearer afterwards.
Some people feel deeply tired - this is the body catching up on rest when the nervous system regulates.

You will be given a glass of water and time to prepare yourself and can explain any sensations you felt during the session.
You can continue with your normal day.

Who this is for

People usually book when they notice:

-
their body feels permanently tense.
-
they are tired but cant properly rest.
-
they feel overwhelmed easily.
-
they feel anxious for no clear reason.
-
their mind won't switch off.
-
they're stuck in stress or burnout.

Aftercare
After Your Reiki Session.
Reiki is a gentle therapy, however the body may continue to relax and adjust after a session. Some people notice temporary sensations over the next 24–48 hours.

These can include:
• Deep relaxation or sleepiness
• Emotional release or vivid dreams
• Increased thirst
• Mild headache
• Feeling warm or cold
• Tingling sensations
• Tiredness or occasionally, a temporary increase in awareness or energy.

These responses are usually short-lived and settle naturally as the body rebalances. To support your wellbeing after your session, it can help to:
• Drink plenty of water
• Rest if your body feels tired
• Avoid alcohol for the remainder of the day
• Allow yourself quiet time where possible
If anything feels unusual, uncomfortable, or persists beyond 48 hours, please contact me and seek advice from your GP or appropriate healthcare professional.
Reiki is a complementary therapy and does not replace medical care.
